Research on actin-related visceral myopathy investigates how disease-associated mutations alter the structural and biophysical properties of actin, affecting filament assembly and smooth muscle function. By combining biochemical, structural, and computational approaches, this work aims to define the molecular basis of cytoskeletal dysfunction. Particular attention is given to actin dynamics and stability The research is conducted in collaboration with computational groups and experts in cellular and mechanobiology. These studies contribute to a better understanding of disease mechanisms and to the identification of potential therapeutic strategies.
