The MolBD3 Lab serves as a hub for senior and junior independent researchers with diverse scientific interest, all adopting a one-health, planetary approach to human health. We investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying human diseases to advance targeted therapeutic strategies, while developing engineered enzymes for sustainable, green chemistry, and promoting biodiversity.
About Us
The MolBD3 Lab serves as a hub for senior and junior independent researchers with diverse scientific interest, all adopting a one-health, planetary approach to human health. We investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying human diseases to advance targeted therapeutic strategies, while developing engineered enzymes for sustainable, green chemistry, and promoting biodiversity.

Research Focus
Our research interests include cancer, neurodegenerative and rare diseases, as well as infections caused by viral and bacterial pathogens. We investigate fundamental molecular processes, including protein misfoldingand aggregation, protein-protein interaction and host-pathogen interplay to identify novel therapeutic targets.
In addition, we design and optimize enzymes through structure-guided approaches for efficient and environmentally sustainable biocatalysis.
Approach
By combining advanced structural biology techniques – X-ray crystallography, SAXS, and Cryo-EM – with protein biochemistry, biophysics, and computational methods, we analyze the structure and the function ofbiomolecular systems and translate these insights into investigational therapeutic and biotechnological applications.
Education & Third mission
The MolBD3 Group is committed to knowledge dissemination, fostering scientific awareness, and training the next generation of scientists. We actively recruit undergraduate and PhD students interested in molecular biology, biophysics, and related fields.
